Annette Bennington McElhiney is a former nurse and retired college English and Women's Studies Professor. In 2008, at age 67, she was diagnosed wiith high grade serous Ovarian Cancer IIIC and given a 25-33 % chance of living 5 years. She had an incomplete debulking, 18 months of chemo therapy and, today has outlived her expiration date! Because she is so grateful to be alive, she presents this web site to give information about ovarian cancer to survivors and the public, to offer support to ovarian cancer survivors, and to make available her paintings and designs with all royalty going to the Clearity Foundation! She hopes you will find useful and encouraging information on this site and also something you'd like for yourself, or another cancer survivor.
Personally, Annette has been married 55 years to her high school sweetheart. She has two adult sons, three grand children, and two healing Bengal cats, Liebee (meaning love in German) and Hoffie (short for Hoftnung meaning hope in German).
She is a self taught painter but has taken various courses at the Denver Art League as well as in the Napa Valley, Taos, and Palm Desert, Ca. She paints to heal and donates her paintings to the Clearity Foundation and COCA for fund raising.
